Description
Unique offer; stunning light worn SS visor cap having a silver bullion piping for SS general ranks. The hat is complete with a matching late zinc set of national insignia up front, coated in silver made by the firm of Assmann (Similar pieces shown in the SS inisgnia book (attached)). The visor shows nice overal wear but has no visible damages besides a small moth hole on the upper side. The outside is constructed out of officer quality ‘doeskin’ type of soft wool (most times you see this wool totaly eaten by moths, as they absolutely love it). The celluloid sweat shield inside is gone but this minimalistic design is a typical SS Kleiderklasse visor. Large size +- 59. The celluloid type ‘grey’ chin strap, is perfectly matching with this late war constructed visor. A very unique chance to obtain a unquestionable original Waffen-SS officer visor cap!
I located this visor in USA last week with an old collector selling his enitre collection, he had this particular piece in his collection for over 50 years already.
Kleiderklasse: Waffen-SS officers bought their uniforms from an allowance they were paid, either from a tailor or through the Kleiderklasse system where the officer paid a monthly amount and could draw supplies from a series of Kleiderklasse outlets. They would have had several tunics, a tailor-made one for best and probably a lesser quality or even an issue one for in the field.
